Say you do exercise on a treadmill for 1 hour, and exercise on a stairmaster for 1 hour, what burns more calories?

It is hard to tell which one burns more calories. It is actually base on your work out routine. If you exercise hard and serious, you surely lost more calories. Google different workout routines and choose the one right suit you. I would recommend you the HIIT which max the cardio performance in short train session. Hope it is helpful for you.
It depends on the intensity. A good way to know is to use the treadmill and run two miles. What is your average heart rate? Most people burn around 100 calories a mile if they are 150 lbs, sometimes a little over if they are running fast (9 min miles or faster). There are tons of calorie burn calculators for running.
When you do the stairmaster machine, try to get the same heart rate you do while running those two miles and you will end up burning the same. If your heart rate is way lower than the treadmill, you need to go up a few levels.
I think stairmaster burns more calories.
