This is a common problem that many people face. In fact, eat little food to slim down your body is one of the worst weight loss methods. It can hardly help you lose weight in the long run, and may damage your stomach too.
Logically, it seems that you are supposed to lose some weight by eating little, because you cut down your calorie intake dramatically, so your (Calorie In – Calorie Out) should be negative, thus your body will start burning excess fat stored in it and this should lead to your fat loss, right?
But it is not the case.
Eating very little, or you can call it starving, to lose weight, may slow down your metabolism, slow metabolism means you burn calorie slowly. It make you gain fat easily.
By eating small amount of food, you actually send a message to your body that food is scarce, so the body will try its best to store more proportion of calories you consume as fat. Then you may gain more fat.
When you eat little food, you do not get enough calories your body needs, so where does your body get enough energy to make your all your organs function normally? The answer is your body will get the energy by burning your body fat and muscle. This result in reduction of muscle. Since muscle expend much more calories than fat, this does really decrease the total calories your body need.
More body fat, less muscle, slow metabolism, these finally cause your weight gain, but not weight loss.
