Walking or running is better for weight loss? If you ask people this question, I think you will get different answers. Some people say running is better, some say walking is better. I am sure you will get confused.
I am not an expert, however, after doing some research, my opinion is walking is better than running for losing fat. Two reasons:
First, I think the most important thing is the exercising time. While you are doing cardios to lose weight, your body mainly use glucose as for fuel
at the beginning. After that, it start burning fat mainly. When exercising time is too short, the body will use glucose mainly, but not burn fat. Since most people are not a runner, they can not run that long, so less fat will be burnt. What if you walk to lose weight? I think most people can go walking for an hour easily. So, in my opinion, you can burn fat easier by walking. However, the distance is important too. And you need to spend more time by walking for the same distance.
Second, it is about the impact on joints and knees.
When we are walking/running, our joints and knees will bear stress. Since many people who plan to lose weight are overweight, their joints and
knees bear more stress because of their excess weight. It is obvious that walking puts less stress on joints and knees.
But if you are a good runner, I think running can help you burn more calories than walking, no matter if you do the same amount of time or the same amount of distance.
