How to Start Running When Out of Shape

Here are some tips for you.

You need a pair of comfortable shoes.
Every time you go running, the first thing you should do: warm up. A few minutes walking is OK.

Then start running. But don’t run too fast, or you will feel out of breath. So, how fast should you run? Run at the pace that you are able to talk with others comfortably.

When you are running, take deep breaths in and out. If you feel that you cannot run any longer, you can slow down and walk for 1 – 2 minutes, then start running again. Or just go brisk walking instead. Running to lose weight does not mean you should run a long distance without stopping.

As for how long you should run, run as long as you can. Just take it easy.  For most beginners, it is normal that you will find it hard to run a long distance in the beginning. That’s fine. You will be able to run longer if you keep on running regularly.

As for running frequency, you can run once every 3 days. After you adapt to it, you can run 3 – 5 times per week.

By the way, the first 2 or 3 times you run, you will probably feel sore the next day after the running. It is normal. When your body get used to your exercise, you will not feel sore again.
