How to Determine If I Am Overweight

A lot of people want to know their weight status, so most of them have a question like this “how to determine if I am overweight?”
In fact, there are several ways to test to see if you are overweight. The most common way that people use to determine if they are overweight is BMI. BMI stands for body mass index, it is calculated from one’s weight and height, it is widely used as measurement for people’s weight status.

If you want to get your body mass index, you need to know your weight and height first.
(Here is how to calculate your BMI manually, or you can use a BMI Calculator)

For people who are ≥ 20 years old,
if your BMI is  25 – 29,9, you are overweight;
if your BMI ≥ 30, you are obese;
if your BMI is 18.5 – 24.9, your weight is normal;
if your BMI < 18.5, you are underweight.

For people who are < 19 years old, it is a different interpretation, get more information here

BMI is an easy way to find out if you are overweight, though it does not measure your body fat directly and may be inaccurate for some people sometimes, it is still a useful indicator of your body weight status. If you want to measure your body fat directly and get an precise result, you’d better visit your doctor.
