Eat Six Meals a Day to Lose Weight

There are many people say eating six small meals per day is good for weight loss. Do you want to try it but have questions like the following?

  1. Is it really an effective way to lose weight?
  2. Can you lose weight by eating 6 meals a day without doing any exercise?
  3. When should you eat the six meals?
  4. What food to eat for six meals a day, any example?
  5. How many calories should you eat each meal?

The logic behind this is:
When you eat more frequently, your body will burn the energy you take in faster, because it thinks the food is adequate, it don’t need to store energy for later use.
If you eat smaller portions, your body will gradually adapt to this, and you can hardly eat a big meals after that. Therefore, you don’t overeat.

  1. I think this is just a way to help you burn fat faster when you don’t consume excess calories. If you want to lose fat, you still need to follow the simple rule: burning more calories than you eat. No matter you eat 3 meals or six meals.
  2. Doing exercise along with eating six meals a day will be better for fat loss.
  3. 3 meals and 3 snacks is OK. Example, 7:30 breakfast, 10:00 snack, 12:30 lunch, 15:30 snack, 18:30 lunch, 21:00 snack.
  4. Foods you can eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Some snacks to eat: Yogurt, toast, sandwich, nuts, fresh fruit is fine, such as banana and apple.
  5. It is hard to give an answer to how many calories you should eat each meal. It depends on your size, age, sex, activity level. Usually, an adult needs at least 1200 – 1500 calories a day.

For many people, eating six meals a day is unrealistic because of their schedule.
In fact, as long as you can burn more calories than you consume, you finally should reduce body fat.  So, do not force yourself to eat six meals a day to lose weight.
