Yes, protein can turn into fat. But it does not directly turn into fat.
The protein we get from food is not the same protein in our body, it need to be broken down into amino acid so that it can be used by our body. Most of these amino acid will turn into protein that our body need, some will turn into glucose and fat, some will turn into other things in our body.
So, I think dietary protein can turn into body fat, but the amount is little compared to that turns into body protein.
