Does not eating make you lose weight fast?

I’m looking to reduce 5 kgs fast, but I don’t know where to start. I am wondering if you can lose weight fast by not eating? I’ve heard two conflicting opinions on reducing weight by not eating foods. One says you can reduce weight fast if you do not eat. And the other says you can’t lose any weight.
I want to give it a try, anyone has experience? Did you get thinner by not eating, or eating like 500 calories a day?

We get energy by eating foods. If you do not eat, your body will burn body fat and muscle to get energy. So, not eating help you reduce weight. But the problem is that this make your metabolic rate slow down. Once you back to your normal diet, your body store fat easier because of slower metabolism.
To avoid this, you can do exercise and building muscle to speed up your metabolism after you lose weight by not eating.

DO NOT starve yourself. I tried that, and yes, you do lose weight and you lose it fast. But there are 2 downsides that are worse than just staying your weight you are now. 1) I’ve heard it slows your metabolism more and it’s just common sense that you’re just not going to be healthy due to lack of nutrients, etc. And 2) you lose weight so fast that it causes you to have loose skin from weight loss, that really, you can’t get rid of unless you fill that skin back out. It looks worse than before. It happened to me. I eat healthy and exercise now, but trust me, starving yourself is not the way to go.
