Can You Lose Inches Without Losing Weight?
Saturday, July 10th, 2010How Many Pounds to Lose an Inch Off Your Waist
Sunday, July 4th, 2010“For losing an inch off your waist, how many pounds do you have to lose?”
Some people say it is about 5 – 10 lbs to shed to lose one inch off waist.
With that being said, it is really hard to give an answer. Because every person has a different body. When losing weight, some people may lose it in thighs first, some may lose it in stomach first, some may lose it in waist first… We have no control over this, we don’t know where the fat will come off first.
And we are unable to target waist fat by doing any exercise. What we can do is stick to a dieting and exercising plan to lose fat steadily until we see visible fat loss from waist.
Sometimes, there is a chance that we can lose inches without losing weight. Because we may lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, and fat takes up more volume than muscle for the same amount of weight.
So, it is hard to say how many lbs to lose one inch off your waist, thighs, or hips…
If I Burn 1000 Calories a Day, Will I Lose Weight?
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010Burning 1000 calories a day does not guarantee weight loss. Whether you will lose weight or not does not only depends on how many calories you burn per day, but also depends on how many calories you eat. The rule is when you eat less than you burn, you will lose weight theoretically.
Say you burn 1000 calories and eat only 800 calories a day, you create a calorie deficit of 200 calories. So where does your body get these 200 calories? From stored sugar and fat. If you keep doing this, the stored fat will be burnt gradually. Then you will get slim.
Say you burn 1000 calories and eat 1200 calories a day, you get extra 200 calories. Where do these calories go? Most of the 200 calories will store as fat in your body, so you gain fat day after day by eating more than you burn.

This really depend on your height and weight.
Usually, I think people can notice your weight loss when your mid section get smaller. When you drop a jean size, other people and you can notice a difference. Generally speaking, you need to lose about 5 -15 lbs to go down a dress size. It depends on where you are now. The bigger you are, the more pounds you have to lose to get visible weight loss.
The healthy rate to lose weight is 1 – 2 pounds a week. Say you lose 2 lbs per week, I think it will take you at least 3 weeks to notice weight loss.
